THE EXHIBITION:
Photographer, Michael C. Smith, has been
photographing Boston’s annual Trinidad-style Carnival for over 10 years. Fascinated by the colors,
design and workmanship that is required to make these elaborate costumes a
reality and the short life span of these designs, he has been determined to
document this truly wonderful Trinidad-style Carnival.
This first exhibition is another step in what Michael describes as making Boston Carnival what Macy’s Day parade is to New York City. These seasonal costumes bring new designs and ideas
which light up the parade route with vibrancy, color, soca and calypso music
that fire the imagination and enthrall the spectators to “Streets of Color”.
This cultural activity has been the corner stone of the community for over 35
years. Join us as we celebrate the culture and the artesian who work tirelessly
to bring this fantastic culture that is a Trinidad-style Carnival to Boston.
Visit one of the locations listed on the right of this page. Thank you for viewing the Streets of Color Exhibition.
